Timberline’s senior volleyball class has been virtually unstoppable to start their final campaign. That trend continued Monday night as the Blazers swept Gig Harbor on the road behind huge nights from four seniors.
Timberline staved off the Tides 25-17 in each of the first two sets, and the Blazers triumphed 25-14 in set three to secure their fourth sweep of the season through five matches.
Kinley Smith paced the offense with 16 kills, and she blocked three attacks at the net. Lilly Grant once again dominated in the front row with 11 kills, five blocks and two aces, while Leia Dela Cruz ran the offense efficiently with 28 assists, two aces and even two blocks at her setter spot.
Jovie Lind had an outstanding night on defense with 17 digs and added an ace, and sophomore Kinley Zimmerman tallied four kills, all in clutch moments.
“Overall, I thought our opponent gave us a different kind of challenge tonight. They are a young team, but they’re big, scrappy and have a lot of potential,” Timberline head coach Matt Monnastes said. “They made us work in some different ways. For us, it was another opportunity to continue building consistency and finding different ways to score.”
Timberline (5-0, 4-0 Puget Sound League) will travel to Tacoma Wednesday night to face Lincoln (2-6, 1-3 PSL).
