Venable’s 34 leads Black Hills to dominant win over Yelm

Tyler Venable and the Black Hills girls basketball started their season in a big way, as Venable scored 34 points to lead the Wolves to a dominant 59-18 victory over Yelm on Tuesday in Tumwater.

In three of the four quarters, Black Hills held Yelm to four or fewer points, including just two in the first and third.

In addition to her 34, Venable added nine steals, four rebounds, and three assists.

Taylor Morrison and Haley McMahon both added six points, and Morrison also posted six steals and five rebounds. 

Natalie Buchanan added five points, nine rebounds, and five steals, while Cassidy O’Reilly posted five points and three rebounds. Barrette McKissick rounded out the scoring with three points and she also had five rebounds.

As a team, the Wolves nabbed 27 steals and held Yelm to just 8 for 26 from the field.

Black Hills (1-0) will be back at home on Friday afternoon against R.A. Long.
