Ibrahima Diallo breaks Olympia single-game rushing record in rout of Yelm

It has already been quite the impressive season for Olympia senior running Ibrahima Diallo, but the star speedster added a broken record to his resumé.

Diallo set the school record for rushing yards in a game with 355 yards and six touchdowns on just eight carries, all of which came in the first half of a 64-16 Bears win over Yelm Saturday afternoon. He had five touchdowns in a 43-point first quarter.

The game was postponed to Saturday due to a power outage in Yelm Friday night.

Olympia rushed for 562 yards and nine touchdowns as a team. The Bears led 58-9 at halftime.

“He found some creases and made a lot of big plays,” Olympia head coach Cary Nagel said of Diallo. “I give a lot of credit to our offensive line. Ibra used his skills, and the offensive line executed well. We thought we could get the edge on [Yelm]. We scouted them well.”

Nagel also gave credit to linebacker David Ukwu for his performance and praised him as “one of the best linebackers in the state.”

Kyler Clark also added two carries for 77 yards and a score, Aden Carr rushed for 51 yards and a score on two totes, and Ryder Smith ripped off a 44-yard rushing touchdown.

Yelm found some offense in the second quarter with a 65-yard touchdown pass from Trenton Sawyers to Vincent Torres, and quarterback Aiden Youckton threw a touchdown to Devin Ellison in the second half.

Sawyers completed 6 of 18 passes for 106 yards, one touchdown and one interception, while Youckton threw for 74 yards on 7 of 8 passing with one touchdown. The Tornados were held to -28 rushing yards.

Olympia (4-0, 1-0 South Puget Sound League) will face its most challenging test yet next Friday, Oct. 2 as it hosts Graham-Kapowsin (3-1, 1-0 SPSL). Yelm (0-4, 0-1 SPSL) will visit Bethel (1-3, 1-0 SPSL) that same evening.
