Three Tenino High School alumni will be inducted into the 2025 Tenino Athletics Hall of Fame class during halftime of the boys basketball game on Friday, Jan. 23.
Jessica Brathovd, Matt Whitmire and Jerry Striegel are the inductees of the second annual athletics hall of fame class.
Brathovd, a seven-time state champion and state record holder in track and field, won the 1A 800-meter state title all four years and claimed the 400-meter crown three straight years. Brathovd graduated from THS in 1990.
Whitmire, a 1987 THS graduate, quarterbacked the Beavers to the 1A state semifinals his senior year and was an all-state baseball player. He signed on to play quarterback for the University of Washington, played basketball at Skagit Valley Community College and then transferred to Iowa State University, where he played quarterback. Whitmire also coached football at Pe Ell, White Salmon and Centralia.
Striegel served as the head baseball coach at Tenino from 1983 to 1995 and led the Beavers to the 1986 1A state championship. He grew up in Rochester, attended Centralia College and graduated from Western Washington University in 1979. During his time in Tenino, Striegel was also the head volleyball coach for eight years and the head tennis coach for one year, as well as serving as the Tenino athletic director for a decade. Before his retirement in 2018, he coached Rochester’s baseball team for nine years and worked as the athletic director.

Tenino High School announced its inaugural athletics hall of fame class in 2024. The class included five individuals and two state title teams, including the 1986 baseball team, the 1986 girls track team, Dick Brock, Gordy Robertson, Hal Williams, Lori Fair and Gordon Harris.
