The Tenino volleyball team dropped the first set of its matchup against Centralia on Brock Court on Thursday, but the Beavers rallied back to take the next three sets and top the Tigers 20-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-6.
Katen Burkhardt posted 17 kills, six blocks, five assists, and five digs, while Sequoia Zimmer dished out 26 assists, seven digs, two kills, and three aces while missing just one of 19 service attempts.
Violet Zimmer went 21 for 22 from the service line while adding six digs and five kills, and Kaytlin Holmes-Pickernell added eight digs and two aces while going 14 for 17 from the line. Kendall Bowe added seven kills and a dig of her own, and Keira Laughlin posted four digs without missing a serve.
Tenino’s freshmen also stepped up in the win, as Peyton Songer tallied seven digs and four aces while missing just two of 18 service attempts, and Abby Smith added four kills and two digs. Brooklyn Livermore also collected three kills, a block, and a dig, and Taliya Fontaine notched a kill.
“Proud of our freshmen for stepping up and playing with confidence tonight,” Tenino coach Shauna Carpenter said.
Kendyl Guenther led the Tigers with nine kills, while Ava Horst and Eliyah Rooklidge both posted 10 digs. Ceiana Arelong was perfect on 14 service attempts, and Ryleigh Butler ended the night with six kills.
Tenino (2-2) will look for its third win in a row on Monday at Rainier, while Centralia (2-3) will host R.A. Long the same afternoon.
