A pedestrian standing in the roadway on U.S. Highway 101 near Shelton was struck by a car Sunday night.
The pedestrian, identified by the Washington State Patrol as Brett J. Flowers, 51, of Hoodsport, was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital.
The driver who struck him, identified as Ryan W. Tewell, 35, of Yelm, called 911 to report the incident at approximately 9:25 p.m. on Dec. 28.
Tewell was reportedly driving a black 2023 Toyota GR86 on northbound U.S. Highway 101 when he struck Flowers, who was standing in the northbound lane at milepost 347, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Flowers and the Toyota both came to rest on the right shoulder.
No drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident, according to the Washington State Patrol, which determined “pedestrian in roadway” was the cause of the crash.
