Wolf Haven International in Tenino will hold its annual fundraising gala from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.
The sanctuary’s Wolves & Wine Gala brings together friends, family and wolf supporters to enjoy dinner and wine and bid on live auction items to raise funds for Wolf Haven, education and conservation efforts.
Wolf Haven, a nonprofit wolf sanctuary and education center, has worked under the mission “to conserve and protect wolves and their habitat” since 1982. It is the only wolf sanctuary in the world to be accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS).
In 2024, the organization was also selected from over 200 GFAS-certified sanctuaries worldwide to receive the esteemed GFAS Outstanding Wildlife Sanctuary Award, the news release stated.
Wolves & Wine was first established by Wolf Haven as its annual fundraiser in 2011 and had been consistently held at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey.
But this year, the event will be held at Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound for the first time, according to the release.
“Wolf Haven’s wonderful community of supporters continues to grow, and this popular event has been selling out very quickly in recent years,” Executive Director Geoff Willard said. “When searching for a larger venue, we were delighted with Great Wolf Lodge. They have the capacity we need, delicious food, beautifully displayed wolf art and décor, and a convenient location by Exit 88 in Grand Mound. And what a cool bonus that their name is so perfectly aligned with Wolf Haven!”
Event attendees can expect to hear updates from the organization’s Washington and Montana sanctuaries, experience never-before-seen wolf footage, and learn more about the vision Wolf Haven has for the future. This year’s Wolves & Wine will also host Dr. Diane Boyd as the keynote speaker. Renowned wildlife biologist, wolf researcher and author of the new memoir “A Woman Among Wolves,” Boyd will share personal stories and insights from her career studying wild wolves in the Northern Rockies, the release stated.
Tickets are on sale now at wolfhaven.org/events.
For those unable to attend in-person, Wolf Haven will also be offering a curated selection of online auction items available for bidding March 6-15. All auction proceeds go to the wolves, helping to conserve and protect them for years to come.
