A civilian sustained minor injuries in a fire that damaged three RVs and four vehicles near Rochester on Wednesday.

The fire was reported at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22,  in the area of 198th Avenue SW, according to the West Thurston Regional Fire Authority.

Mutual aid partners Tumwater Fire Department Medic One, East Olympia Fire District, and South Thurston Fire & EMS also responded.

The fire was initially reported as a brush fire, but arriving crews updated the severity to a residential fire threatening multiple structures.

Heavy smoke and flames were visible, and firefighters immediately initiated a defensive attack on the involved structures and vehicles while additional units worked to protect nearby exposures, West Thurston said in a news release.

The fire was brought under control quickly, and crews then conducted overhaul operations to extinguish remaining hot spots.

The fire was contained to a small area, and the injured civilian was evaluated and treated at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
