Powered by five total rushing touchdowns, three fumble recoveries and even a safety to toss in, the T-Birds took care of business on Friday night and dominated the Turks 51-6 at home to claim a spot in the Round of 16.
Tumwater’s opponent will be unveiled on Sunday. It is the 500th victory in the history of its program. In total, 13 ball carriers were involved in the win.
“A nice team win where a lot of young kids in the program got an opportunity to play and contribute,” Thunderbirds head coach Willy Garrow said. “It was great to (get the 500th win) in front of the community at a home playoff game.”
Tumwater had a 23-0 lead after the opening quarter, upped it to 44 by half and reached the 50-point threshold after three frames. Peyton Davis had two touchdowns and 71 yards while Tyler Briscoe dashed 97 yards and a score, each doing it on just four carries.
Defensively, Grady Wall had two tackles for loss and a sack while Gavin Kaikkonen led the way with eight total tackles.
