The Timberline softball team had a forgettable trip to Montesano Friday, losing in shutout fashion 10-0 in a five-inning non-league contest against the reigning 1A state champion.

The Blazers were restricted to just two hits offensively, with Nevaeh Haagen and Leovi Meno-Meyers registering singles off Bulldogs starter Violet Prince. Haagen, who had only allowed one home run in the circle all season, gave up two to Montesano in one inning.

Haagen and Meno-Meyers reached base to lead off the first inning but couldn’t score. Montesano did the same in the bottom of the first and failed to score, and the Bulldogs also stranded two runners in the second before breaking through with two runs in the third, both coming with two outs.

Taylor Galvin hit a solo home run on the first pitch of the fifth inning, a frame that saw Montesano pour in eight runs. Jaelyn Butterfield ended the game with a three-run home run to activate the run rule.

Haagen finished with six strikeouts in 4.1 innings, allowing 10 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits and three walks.

Timberline (13-4, 13-1 Puget Sound League) will visit Lakes (0-12, 0-12 PSL) Monday before a huge home game against Peninsula (16-2, 13-1 PSL) Wednesday that will likely decide the PSL Nisqually Division champion. The Blazers defeated the Seahawks 8-3 in Gig Harbor April 10 in their first meeting.
