The Timberline and Central Kitsap girls swimming teams have consistently had close meets every season, and their meet at Timberline Tuesday, Sept. 29 was no exception.

Central Kitsap won 83-79, and Timberline won five of the 12 events.

Freshman Nevaeh Lewis improved her best time in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:21.50, good enough to squeak out a victory by less than half a second. She also triumphed in the 200-yard individual medley at a new personal record of 2:40.46.

Junior Lillianna Conn qualified for the Puget Sound League meet in the 500-yard freestyle by winning the event at 7:21.70, improving her personal record by over eight seconds.

Junior Layla Nau also pulled out a close win in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:01.90, reaching the finish line faster than the runner-up by a tenth of a second.

Junior Brenna Ganey won the 200-yard freestyle at 2:28.83 and took the top spot by 10 seconds, and she added a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:07.65.

All three of Timberline’s relay teams placed second.

Freshman Talia Larsen was the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:30.25, and sophomore Zailynn Dall took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:33.61.

“Central Kitsap is consistently the closest team we go against each season, and this meet proved exactly that,” Timberline head coach Caleb Hegel-Linggi said. “With an incredibly close score, and an even team composition, it made for a fun, energetic meet that pushed both our teams to many new best times.”

Timberline will visit River Ridge Thursday, Oct. 1.
