The Napavine softball team secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming district tournament on Monday, run-ruling Rainier 15-1 in five innings.

Napavine scored at least three runs in every inning it came to bat, including a four-run first and a five-run fourth.

“Really proud of how the girls played today,” Napavine coach Josh Fay said. “We came out strong from the start.”

Every Tiger in the lineup recorded at least one hit, and seven had multiple. Hannah Fay hit a home run and drove in four runs, and Hayden Kaut added a triple and an RBI of her own.

Macie Brevard brought home two runs, and both Paytin Wheeler and Lyla Kirkpatrick added three hits and an RBI.

Clara Fay added two hits and a RBI, and Tarynn Dalebout also collected a pair of hits.

Dakota Lyons had two hits, drove in two runs, scored three times, and also allowed just three hits and an unearned run while striking out three in five innings of work in the circle.

Ryleigh Cruse, Sierra Lee, and Peyton Tsagris notched Rainier’s three hits, and the Mountaineers lone run came across on an error in the second.

Rainier (8-8, 4-3 C2BL) currently sits in the No. 4 spot in the C2BL. The Mountaineers will host Tenino on Tuesday before heading to Winlock for their regular-season finale on Thursday.

As the No. 2 seed, Napavine (15-2, 6-1 C2BL) has earned a bye to the district quarterfinals, which are on Friday, May 15 at Fort Borst Park. Prior to that, the Tigers will wrap up their regular season on Thursday in Mossyrock.
