Three suspects — including a wanted car thief wearing a wig and a hat to hide his identity — were arrested while allegedly prowling a property north of Littlerock on Monday, Nov. 10.
The suspects, who were not identified by the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, reportedly arrived at a property off of Waddell Creek Road in a stolen Honda CRV.
“Unfortunately for them, there were about 15 deputies and I down the road at firearms training,” Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders said in a social media post Monday night.
He posted earlier that day that patrol deputies, detectives, and corrections deputies were out at the range conducting their annual qualifications.
All 16 sheriff’s office personnel arrived on scene “within minutes” and arrested the suspects for trespassing and other charges, Sanders said.
The wigged suspect was identified as a “prolific auto thief” with multiple active felony cases and a warrant out for his arrest on felony criminal impersonation and identity theft charges, according to Sanders.
After claiming to have swallowed fentanyl immediately prior to his arrest, the suspect was medically cleared at a local hospital and then booked into the Thurston County Jail.
The second suspect allegedly lied about her name and had a warrant out for a burglary charge. The third suspect was in possession of fentanyl, according to Sanders.
Deputies matched the Honda CRV the suspects were driving with a stolen vehicle report made earlier that day. The car’s owner reported their car was stolen from a movie theater in Olympia.
The car was returned to its owners, who reportedly “noted TCSO gets a ‘5 star review,’” Sanders wrote, applauding deputies for their work.
