Three touchdown passes from Evan Morey helped the Tenino football team build an early lead at home against Kalama on Friday, and the Beavers held on for a 34-12 victory to improve to 2-0.
Morey’s first touchdown was a 30-yard strike to Easton Miller, and the two connected again early in the second when Morey hit Miller for an 80-yard touchdown.
Later in the second, Morey hit Mason Metcalf on a 40-yard touchdown pass, and Parker Minerich made it 27-0 with a 15-yard touchdown run in the third.
Kalama scored two touchdowns in the fourth to get back within two scores, but Minerich iced the game with another touchdown run, this time barreling through defenders and hitting paydirt from 25 yards out.
The Tenino defense had an excellent night, giving up just six points (one of Kalama’s touchdowns was a defensive score) and forcing five turnovers (three interceptions and two fumble recoveries).
Tenino (2-0) will hit the road next Friday, Sept. 18, when it faces Toledo in a non-league clash.
