Tumwater’s Sarah Stevens had a strong two-way day on Wednesday, hitting a home run at the dish while tossing a complete game shutout to lead Tumwater to a 4-0 victory over Shelton.
Stevens struck out eight Highclimbers in her first three innings, and she hit a solo home run in the fourth to put the T-Birds in front.
In the fifth and sixth, the Thunderbirds gave her some more run support. Cassandra McCartney picked up an RBI single in the fifth, and in the sixth, C Johnson drilled an RBI double and Megan Barrett added an RBI single of her own.
Stevens ended the afternoon with 12 strikeouts, and she didn’t issue a walk and allowed just four hits.
McCartney finished with two hits, while Barrett, Stevens, Sophie Skillman, Johnson, and Riley Smith notched one each.
Tumwater (7-4, 4-3 2A EvCo) will head to Black Hills on Friday.
