Sound Learning, a nonprofit adult education provider based in Shelton, Washington, has announced that it has been awarded a three-year, $150,000 grant from The Harvest Foundation.

This investment will enhance and expand educational opportunities for adults seeking to earn their high school diploma, prepare for and complete the GED, and improve their English language skills throughout Mason and Thurston Counties, Sound Learning said in a news release.

Funding from The Harvest Foundation will be used to strengthen the quality and reach of these programs by supporting the purchase of updated educational equipment, including computers essential for digital literacy instruction, as well as level-appropriate learning materials for all subjects. Additionally, the grant will help advance staff development and training, ensuring instructors stay current with best practices and are equipped to provide high-quality support to learners, according to a news release from Sound Learning.

“We are incredibly grateful to The Harvest Foundation for their generous support,” said Ava Taylor, interim director of Sound Learning. “This funding will allow us to better serve adults in our community who are working hard to build brighter futures for themselves and their families. Investments in education strengthen our entire region.”

“The board is thrilled about the opportunity this grant presents,” Billy Thomas, board chairman for Sound Learning said in the release. “We recognize the dedication and hard work Ava and the Sound Learning team consistently demonstrate and the time they invest in enhancing students’ lives. We believe this funding will significantly enhance those efforts and expand opportunities.”

Sound Learning offers high school diploma and GED preparation classes in a hybrid format, while English Language Acquisition classes are available both in-person and online.

With the support of The Harvest Foundation, the organization will continue to expand its impact, helping more adults gain the knowledge and confidence they need to achieve their goals, the release stated.
