Shelton pulls away in second stanza to topple Rochester

A low-scoring opening frame quickly turned one-sided after the Highclimbers erupted for 26 in the second quarter to run away and eventually secure a 66-28 victory over the Warriors on Friday night at the MiniDome.

Shelton outscored Rochester 26-3 in the frame to turn a two-point deficit into a 21-point cushion. The Highclimbers added 20 more in the third and 15 in the fourth to induce a running clock and put the game out of reach.

Tyson Canales led the Warriors with seven points while five others had exactly two points. The Warriors will conclude their road swing on Monday at fellow 1A opponent Kalama.

“Fight was there, just (need to) be consistent,” Rochester assistant coach Kyle Ratkie said. “Had a lot of open shots, just didn’t hit them.”
