A semi-truck driver is facing possible negligent driving charges after he crossed the median barrier on Interstate 5 in Tumwater and crashed into another semi.

The crash was reported at approximately 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

No injuries were reported, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

A semi driven by Mike Escobar, 51, of Salem, Oregon, was reportedly driving in the right lane northbound on I-5 at milepost 103 when he struck the median barrier and crossed into the southbound lanes.

Escobar struck a semi in the southbound lanes driven by Will Macminn, 60, of Bozeman, Montana.

Escobar’s semi came to rest high-centered on the median barrier, blocking the left lanes of both northbound and southbound I-5.

Macminn’s semi came to rest in the left lane of southbound I-5.

The roadway was blocked for five hours and 20 minutes.

WSP has determined that drugs or alcohol were not involved in the crash, according to an incident report, which listed negligent driving as the cause of the crash.
