Juan Diaz netted his third and fourth goals of the season, and the Saint Martin’s men’s soccer team defeated West Texas A&M 4-1 Saturday in Salem, Oregon.
Xander Koenig gave the Saints an immediate boost six minutes into the contest with a goal assisted by both Jackson Rotondo and Kodyn Flynn. West Texas A&M knotted the score in the 22nd before Diaz provided the go-ahead goal less than four minutes later. Flynn sent a header to Diaz, who punched it in with his right foot.
Diaz extended Saint Martin’s lead early in the second half with an unassisted goal, and Corbin Herrera’s second goal of the season came on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute.
Connor Leistiko recorded four saves to surpass 200 for his career.
Saint Martin’s (4-3-1) will open the GNAC season Thursday, Sept. 24 at home against Western Washington.
