A Rochester woman was hospitalized Wednesday following a single-car crash on Interstate 5 near the Maytown rest area, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
Stephanie C. Taft, 42, was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. Troopers said she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.
According to WSP, Taft was driving a 2008 Honda Civic sedan southbound on I-5 at about 5:17 p.m. April 22 when her car left the roadway near milepost 95 and struck the left-shoulder barrier.
The car then crossed all four lanes to the right and struck the right-shoulder guardrail.
Taft reportedly took the exit toward the Maytown rest area before her car collided into a tree off the right side of the road, where it came to rest.
Troopers said the road was blocked for two hours and 38 minutes.
In its incident report, WSP indicated no drugs or alcohol had been involved.
The official cause of the collision is under investigation.
