Rochester tops Castle Rock for second straight win

The Rochester softball team picked up its second win in a row on Friday, defeating Castle Rock 10-8 in a back-and-forth non-league matchup.

Rochester scored twice in the first, four times in the third, and three times in the fourth to take a 9-2 lead, but the Rockets rallied back with six runs across the fifth and sixth to get back within one.

Josie Nygard doubled to give Rochester an insurance run in the sixth, and Madoleen Goddard pitched a scoreless seventh to lock down the win.

Nygard finished with two hits, that sixth-inning double and a triple, and drove in two runs, and Rylie Wild added three hits and two RBIs.

Addi Morgan collected two hits, drove in a run, and scored twice, and Layla Masaki added two hits and scored a run.

Jayden Evans added a hit and an RBI, and Goddard also drove in a run in the win.

Rochester (3-16, 0-8 1A Evergreen) is scheduled to finish its season on Monday against Black Hills in Tumwater.
