Aiden Villanueva came through once again for the Warriors, lacing a 30-yard shot early in the second half as the eventual game-winning goal to lead them to a 2-1 triumph over the Spartans on Wednesday night in Forks.
With five teams already at three league wins, Rochester (4-2, 4-1 Evergreen) gives itself a small cushion over one of its foes. Even with a pair of injuries early, the Warriors responded and left head coach Matt Ashton pleased.
“Kudos goes out to the entire defensive line for an excellent game,” Ashton said. “Everyone that played, contributed. The games this week are very important.”
Isaiah Nelson opened the scoring for the Warriors in the 10th minute and Forks netted the equalizer on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute. Villanueva, one of the premier goal scorers through the month of March, scored in the 42nd minute.
Rochester will take on Montesano on the road on Friday night.
