The River Ridge boys soccer team came up short against Lakes 3-0 Tuesday night at South Sound Stadium, dropping its fourth straight and third straight via shutout.
Lakes converted on a downfield pass in the 30th minute to score the lone first-half goal. The Lancers turned a chaotic free kick in the 49th minute into a goal, as the free kick clanked off the top post before bouncing around between three different Lancers and ending up in the left side of the net.
In the 58th minute, Lakes forced a River Ridge turnover and converted on a 15-yard shot that narrowly scooted past the Hawks keeper and into the back left side of the net.
“It was an opportunity that slipped away. We did really well moving the ball and being brave with building out of the back, but we couldn’t get that final pass correct,” River Ridge head coach Daniel Arevalo said. “Mentality and positivity is an issue. As soon as they scored, our heads dropped. I need to analyze the good moments and find that right mix of players who work together and understand what needs to be done.”
Arevalo noted that six freshmen played for most of the second half, highlighting the positive play of Alberth Perete-Delgadillo and Ian Allsup.
River Ridge (0-6-1, 0-1 Puget Sound League) will travel up north to Peninsula (1-3) Thursday night.
