The dust has settled around the Thurston County Fair, allowing organizers time to reflect on this year’s successes.

Despite a rainy Saturday morning, the Thurston County Fairgrounds & Event Center welcomed over 20,000 visitors over the four days of the fair, according to information provided by Thurston County.

The fair featured roughly 3,100 exhibits, including home arts, crafts, baked goods and live animals, entered by roughly 650 community members; and approximately 92 bakers participated in the fair’s four community baking contests.

The popular Youth Market Sale resulted in the sale of 105 animals and raised a total of $302,400 — over $25,000 more than the previous year — for local 4-H and FFA youth.

Market Sale Board President Celeste Winther said this year’s total was the highest in recent memory.

“We saw a lot of the community come out,” Winther said, thanking community members for supporting local agricultural youth.

If people want assurance that they’re buying locally-raised meat, Winther said, “These market sales from the kids, it doesn’t get any closer than that.”

The dates for the 2027 Thurston County Fair have been set, Aug. 5-8, but the Thurston County Fairgrounds & Event Center will continue to host events throughout the year.
