The first of at least two meetings and potentially a couple more in the postseason between a pair of Class 2B state qualifiers went the way of the Mountaineers on Tuesday night. They completed a sweep over the Riverhawks 25-18, 25-18, 25-10 at home in a non-league tilt.
It’s the third straight win by Rainier (5-1) and all of its wins have been sweeps. Allyson Ooms posted a team-best 15 kills and joined libero Jessica Adamski with double digit digs. Ellie Pringle notched eight kills, Reagan Bloom recorded six and Lexi Beckman had four plus four blocks.
Setter Courtney Eckroth dished out 36 assists and recorded a team-high seven aces. The Mountaineers continue their non-league slate with a Thursday matchup against Montesano.
Toledo (5-1) dropped its first best-of-five match of the year. Ellie Fallon recorded 13 kills while Sidney Kruger had 20 assists. Those two combined for 10 digs in the back row.
The Riverhawks will take on a 1A program in Annie Wright at home on Thursday.
