The Olympia Police Department responded to a total 1,179 calls for service this week.

The department remarked upon the following notable trends:

  • Officers arrested the suspect in the aggravated assault this week. The suspect walked into a death investigation scene and kicked the deceased. He then spit on multiple officers during the arrest.
  • One auto theft was reported. The victim left it running unattended. It was recovered in Olympia.
  • Two robberies were reported. In one, the suspect pushed an employee trying to stop a shoplift. In the other, the suspect went behind the register and stole a security sensor key and pushed an employee as he was leaving.
  • Officers arrested suspects in three of the four residential burglaries. In one arrest, the suspect kicked and damaged the victim’s door frame trying to enter the home after a dispute about money. He left before officers arrived and was arrested after returning to the house a second time. In another arrest, the suspect entered an apartment without permission and caused damage to the home. In the last arrest, the victim confronted the suspect after hearing him enter through the front door. A K9 tracked the suspect and he was arrested. In the last case, a suspect kicked in two doors to a vacant home.
  • Private security cameras were used in two theft cases and a vehicle prowl. In one theft, the victim watched a juvenile neighbor steal a package from their porch. Most of the product was returned. Another victim saw a juvenile stealing a longboard off their porch. The longboard was returned. In the vehicle prowl, the victims saw the suspect getting in their car and called 911. When officers located the suspect, they also found property stolen in two other vehicle prowls.
