In the first arrest of 2026, officers arrested a suspect who pushed a pizza delivery employee off their porch, according to the Olympia Police Department.
Officers responded to a total of 2,988 calls for service during the three-week period.
The department remarked upon the following notable trends during the three-week period:
- Six aggravated assaults reported during the last three weeks with arrests or charges referred to the prosecutor in all cases. In two arrests, the suspects strangled the victims. In another arrest, the suspect stabbed the victim in the face. Officers located the suspect nearby trying to clean the knife he used. In another arrest, the suspect assaulted multiple people during a violation of a no contact order. The charges were referred in one case where a friend of the victim punched her in the face, causing severe injury.
- Officers arrested two primary suspects in the last aggravated assault after they shot one victim and robbed another victim in two separate incidents. In the robbery, three suspects threatened the victim with a gun and stole his cigarettes. While investigating that, the officer was called to shots fired not far from the robbery and found a victim with a gunshot wound. After extensive investigation using multiple security cameras, photos, interviews and surveillance, Detectives and Officers identified, located and arrested two suspects. The victim is recovering. The Olympia Police Department thanked all the partner agencies that helped in the investigation.
- There were two additional robberies reported over the last three weeks. Officers arrested a suspect who punched an employee trying to stop a shoplift. He was previously trespassed from the store so was also arrested for commercial burglary. The other robbery was delayed reporting. The suspect demanded money while resting his hand on a knife. The victim thought he saw the suspect a week later and called to report the incident at that time.
Six rapes reported that are all open investigations. The victims know the suspects in five of the cases. The victim does not know the suspect in one case.
- One kidnapping reported that is an open investigation.
- Nine residential burglaries reported. Four cases were violations of no contact orders with arrests in all of them. In one case, the suspect pried three planks from the victim’s fence and tried to enter the house through an unsecured sliding door. The victim’s dogs alerted her to his presence. She yelled at him and he left. Officers located and arrested the suspect nearby. A K9 track from Thurston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the suspect came from the victim’s home.
- Six packages were reported stolen over the three-week period and there were five incidents of mail thefts. Two were community mailboxes. In one case, the suspect pried the set of mailboxes right out of a wall. Remember to check your mail daily and report any suspicious activity around mailboxes as it's happening, especially in the middle of the night.
