Olympia girls swim and dive keeps rolling with triangle meet win over Rogers, Bethel

The Olympia girls swim and dive team defeated Rogers (Puyallup) 121-65 and Bethel 152-19 in a triangle meet at Rogers High School Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman Priya Sanders dropped her best time in the 200-yard individual medley from 2 minutes, 25.31 seconds to 2 minutes, 23.87 seconds in a first-place swim. She was milliseconds away from breaking her personal record in the 100-yard freestyle, as well, finishing in 57.65 seconds to win the event.

Olympia clinched victories in all three relay events. The Bears’ 200-yard medley relay team of Mila Grillo, Aila Swanson, Lily Boyle and Preita Sanders took first place at 2:02.47. Their 200-yard freestyle relay team of Swanson, Priya Sanders, Nastasia Moniodis and Preita Sanders won in 1:49.19, and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Moniodis, Priya Sanders, Amulya Keitheri Cheteri and Boyle earned a comfortable win in 4:05.68.



Moniodis picked up a gold finish in the 50-yard freestyle at 26.70 seconds, with Swanson right behind her at 26.84 seconds. Senior Isabella DiBenedetto-Campos set a new PR in the 1-meter dive with a score of 103.50 to place third. 

Sophomore Olivia Smith secured a 100-yard butterfly title at 1:09.18, and her fellow sophomore teammate Anna Ho took second at 1:10.88. Preita Sanders won the 500-yard freestyle by 24 seconds at 5:39.62. 

Olympia will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 29 at Curtis High School.
