Olympia residents can enjoy a hauntingly good time at “LoveOly Downtown for Halloween,” presented by Captain Little with support from The Pet Works, MediaRoom, Oly Paws, The Washington Center for the Performing Arts, and Lolli Llama Candy Company.
The Olympia Downtown Alliance invites community members of all ages to downtown Olympia for a festive trifecta of free, autumnal events designed for the whole family to enjoy.
“We are so grateful for this event and are proud to be the Presenting Sponsor. Downtown Olympia events are the best — they highlight how tight-knit our community is,” Michael Tempke, owner of Captain Little, said in the release. “Halloween is a particularly special time, with so much focus on the children of our community and Olympians showing off their creative side. Captain Little is a priority stop for all the families who come downtown on Halloween.”
Some event highlights include:
Halloween fun kicks off early with a two-week scavenger hunt. Participants can pick up a physical passport or print one online to begin tracking down hidden costumed rubber ducks at participating local shops and restaurants. Collect stickers to complete the passport and submit final entries by 6 p.m. on Oct. 31 for a chance to win local prize packages.
On Halloween afternoon, participating downtown businesses will be ready to greet trick-or-treaters of all ages. Families are invited to dress up and enjoy a safe, walkable downtown adventure while making memories, according to the release.
Resident’s costumed companions can get their moment in the spotlight at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Washington Street. On-site judges will award first- and second-place prizes based on costume creativity and overall crowd enthusiasm. The fun continues through Nov. 2 with online voting to award the "People's Choice" prize. Spectators are encouraged to cheer on the contestants, the release stated.
Advance registration is strongly recommended, as entry spots are limited. Residents can register at tinyurl.com/2026petcostumecontest.
