The Olympia Dance Festival will return to the Washington Center for Performing Arts on Feb. 28 featuring a record number of participating dance companies.

Created in 2010, this annual festival started small with just a few groups and has grown into a competitive juried application process and performance that regularly sells out, organizers said in a news release.

The Olympia Dance Festival features dance companies from throughout the Pacific Northwest region performing ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, jazz, musical theater, ballroom, belly dance, Irish dance, Chinese dance, flamenco and more.

Over 200 dancers from 18 groups from throughout the region will participate this year.

The festival features pieces, each up to six minutes long, showcasing a variety of dance genres.

“There’s something truly special about experiencing so many different styles of dance in one day. The Olympia Dance Festival reminds us just how limitless creativity can be,” said Washington Center Executive Director Jill Barnes.
