Since the North Thurston softball team returned from spring break, the Rams’ bats have been unstoppable.
For the sixth consecutive game, North Thurston ended up on the winning side before the contest could reach the seventh inning, as the Rams cruised past Bellarmine 12-2 in six innings Friday. The Rams have won six in a row, all in run-rule fashion.
Syriahs Trolson was at her best, striking out 10 batters and giving up just two runs on six hits and three walks. She also made an impact with her bat, driving in three runs on a 3-for-4 day.
“Syri was so calm and collected in the circle today. When she has her sister [Saihdee] behind the dish, those two connect like two sisters who are out to prove something,” North Thurston head coach Sam Harding said. “The team worked so unified today. This was definitely a game where they played clutch.”
Since the winning streak started on April 13, Trolson has seen her earned run average drop from 8.84 to 6.02 as she’s earned four wins in five starts. The sophomore right-hander worked around two first-inning singles, and she followed it up with a 1-2-3 second inning.
The top of the Rams lineup continued its scorching success at the plate, as Isabella Haagen lined an RBI double in the third inning, succeeded by an RBI single from Paige Guyer. Trolson pitched in an RBI single.
With the bases loaded in the fourth, Guyer delivered a two-run single, and a pair of errors helped the Rams plate two more runs. After Bellarmine collected two runs in the fifth, North Thurston put the game away with five runs in the sixth, punctuated by a pair of two-run singles by Trolson and Alyvia Belton.
“It’s such a privilege to be around this team and to watch them grow day by day and week by week,” Harding said. “They’re so cool, calm and collected with a high energy level. They don’t get fazed. They attack at every situation.”
North Thurston (8-5, 5-4 Puget Sound League) will put its hot streak to the test next week as the Rams will face the PSL Nisqually Division’s top two teams in Peninsula (13-2, 10-1 PSL) on Monday and Timberline (10-3, 10-1 PSL) on Wednesday.
