Spurred by five goals in the first half, the Bulldogs rolled over the Warriors 8-0 on Thursday night in a Class 1A District 4 semifinal in Montesano. Due to the new eight-goal mercy rule, the match ended in the 72nd minute.
“They’re a good team and were dialed in,” Warriors head coach Matt Ashton said of Montesano.
Just like the boys in the spring, Rochester’s girls squad have a winner-to-state contest on Saturday at Tenino against the Beavers. In two regular season meetings, Tenino upended Rochester (7-11-2) by a pair of 2-0 verdicts.
“It is going to be a test,” Ashton said. “We have to come prepared and ready to go.”
