Porsha Miller was everywhere for the Timberline softball team, striking out nine across five scoreless, one-hit innings while recording two hits and six stolen bases in a 26-0 thumping of Lakes Thursday.

“Porsha had great command today. She didn’t throw a lot of pitches, as she was hitting her spots really well,” Timberline head coach Lynsi Polanco said. “She really showcased her speed and smarts on the bases. She’s a really smart player and a driving force in this lineup.”

Miller also finished 2 of 3 at the plate with two runs batted in, a walk and four runs scored. Timberline scored four in both the first and fourth innings and nine in both the second and third frames.

Nevaeh Haagen had another great day at the plate, blasting her fourth home run of the season on a grand slam in the third inning. Five Blazers recorded at least two hits, and 11 Blazers scored at least one run.

“Overall, the girls played well. They made their adjustments at the plate, had good defensive plays chasing down runners, and overall solid gameplay all around,” Polanco said. “This is such a dynamic, talented group, and watching them get better each day has been a lot of fun.”

Thursday’s game is the first of a back-to-back for Timberline (6-2, 6-0 Puget Sound League), which will return home Friday for a bout with Lincoln (0-6, 0-6 Puget Sound League).
