An Olympia resident was injured and a Kent resident was killed in a three-car crash involving a hit-and-run driver in the SeaTac area on Sunday.
The crash was reported at milepost 151 on southbound Interstate 5 at approximately 3:15 a.m. on March 15, according to a Washington State Patrol incident report.
An unknown driver in the center left lane reportedly struck a silver 2013 Toyota Prius driven by Nadezhda S. Gorbachenko, 72, of Kent, in the far left lane, then fled the scene.
The Prius became disabled perpendicular to the roadway in the far right lane, where it was struck by a white 2019 Subaru Impreza driven by Pu’uwaiokeakul K. Lett, 26, of Olympia.
The Impreza came to rest facing the wrong way in the far right lane.
Gorbachenko was declared dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to State Patrol.
Lett, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to St. Anne Hospital in Burien for medical treatment.
The roadway was blocked for approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
