In loving memory of Edna Dills: 1939-2026

Edna Rae Dills (Lydon), born March 10, 1939, in Franklin, North Carolina, passed away peacefully Aug. 6, 2026, at the age of 87.

In 1944, Edna and her family moved to Mount Vernon, Washington. Over the years, she called many places throughout Washington home before spending her later years in Olympia. She will be remembered for her kind heart, deep faith and the love she shared with her family and all those who knew her.

Edna was a licensed practical nurse and worked at Centralia General Hospital, where she used her dedication and compassion to care for those who needed it most.

Edna was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided her throughout her life. She was a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Parish in Lacey, Washington. She also found joy in the simple beauty of the world around her, especially animals, which she connected with, cared for and loved throughout her life. As an avid gardener, Edna created a beautiful landscape with her plants and flowers both inside and outside her home. When she wasn’t gardening, she could be found reading a book or rooting for the Seattle Mariners.

Edna was the loving mother of six children: Susan (Lydon) Lewis and her husband, Gary Lewis; Rosemary (Lydon) Ayers; Catherine (Lydon) Ayers and her husband, Ron Ayers; Michael Lydon and his wife, Paula; Thomas Lydon and his wife, Jenne; and Timothy Lydon. She is also survived by her brother, Don Dills; Bob Ayers; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many others whose lives were touched by her care, warmth and devotion.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Kyle Lydon, and her son, Timothy, alongside whom she will be laid to rest.

Edna will be remembered with great love and tender hearts by her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Sacred Heart Parish in her honor.
