Frohlich-Fair scores 31 in Evergreen men's basketball loss to Corban

It’s Tony Frohlich-Fair’s world, and we’re just living in it.

The senior wing for The Evergreen State College thrashed Corban University’s defense for 31 points in a Cascade College Conference matchup on Friday, Jan. 30, in Olympia. Despite Frohlich-Fair’s performance, the Geoducks were downed by the Warriors 89-85.

Frohlich-Fair has scored 31 or more points five times this season, including four of the past five games.

Evergreen fell behind 48-36 at halftime and trailed by 17 points with 18:25 left in the game, but came roaring back and tied the game 67-67 on a 3-pointer by Frohlich-Fair with 8:27 on the clock.

The Geoducks grabbed a one-point lead 40 seconds later, but Corban regained the lead and led 83-78 with 1:45 left. Evergreen cut the score to 87-83 with 13 seconds to go, but the Warriors sank two free throws with seven seconds on the clock.

Forhlich-Fair hit 9 of 13 shots, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range. He also went 12 of 15 from the free-throw line while collecting 10 rebounds. The Evergreen wing leads the CCC this season in scoring and is fourth in the nation for the NAIA, scoring 25.8 points per game.

Bradley Graham added 15 points for Evergreen to go along with five rebounds and five assists. Zach Jefferson and Jacob Laff each added nine points. 

Corban was led by Joe Gould and TJ Zimmerman, who each scored 18 points. The Warriors improved to 10-11 overall and 6-7 in the conference. Evergreen fell to 3-12 overall and 3-10 in the CCC.

Evergreen won the two teams’ matchup on Jan. 3 in Salem, Oregon, by a score of 104-96.

The Geoducks shot 41.5% from the field, while Corban shot 55.8% from the field. Evergreen hit six 3-pointers and got to the free-throw line, hitting 25 of 33 charity shots. The Warriors, meanwhile, got to the line plenty, shooting 29 for 44 for free throws.

Evergreen also hosted Bushnell University on Saturday, Jan. 31 and lost 96-69.
