Zaylee Bravo and Lexi Beckman led the way for the Mountaineers in their season opening victory on Saturday afternoon, beating the Beavers 65-32 at home.

It gives first-year head coach Jordan Hunt victory number one. Bravo and Beckman each scored 14 points while Kaysen Bravo and Courtney Eckroth each chipped in 11. Rainier (1-0) led by 10 after the opening quarter and doubled the margin by halftime.

Tenino (0-1), with only one senior on its roster in Chloe Grayless, never could get within striking distance. It was led by Kylie Gonia’s nine points while Georgia Gore recorded seven.

“Very pleased with how we played and the effort,” Beavers head coach Kirsi Gofinch said. “Good little pulse check to start the season.”

Rainier will travel to take on another 1A program in Seton Catholic while Tenino welcomes Naselle for the home opener, both games on Tuesday night.
