No. 22-ranked Corban University defeated the Evergreen women’s basketball team 102-58 in Olympia on Friday, Jan. 30 at the Costantino Recreation Center, despite 16 points from Geoducks senior center Bayleigh Harder.
Corban University improved to 17-4 on the year and 10-3 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, while Evergreen dropped to 0-16 overall and 0-13 in conference play.
Evergreen held an 11-9 edge with 4:29 left in the first quarter, but the Warriors scored seven unanswered points and continued to pile on. Corban outscored Evergreen 36-9 in the second quarter including runs of 12-0 and 11-0 to lead 54-22 at halftime.
The Warriors increased their lead by five in the third quarter, ending the period on a 13-3 run. In the fourth quarter, the Geoducks were outscored 26-19.
Senior guard Jenna Glenzel scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Evergreen, while Jersey Huerta of Corban led all scorers with 31 points.
Harder had a balanced game for the Geoducks, as, along with 16 points, she blocked five shots and grabbed four rebounds.
Corban shot 48.7% from the field, while Evergreen shot 35.2%.
Evergreen also played Bushnell University at home on Saturday, Jan. 31 and lost 64-54.
