Committee members sought to argue against Rochester School District levy proposal on April ballot

Posted

The Thurston County Auditor’s Office is seeking Rochester School District residents to write arguments “against” a levy proposal set to run on the April 28 special election ballot.

If passed, the Rochester School District Capital Levy for Safety and Critical Infrastructure Improvements would allow the district to collect $2,628,405 in 2027 and $2,783,747 in 2028 to support the construction, modernization and remodeling of school facilities. The estimated levy rate would be $1 per $1,000 of assessed value for both years.

Committee members must reside within the district running the measure. Committees provide written arguments “against” a ballot measure that will appear in the Local Voters’ Pamphlet.

Committee member names must be submitted to the Elections Division by 4:30 p.m. on March 6, via email to pamphlet@co.thurston.wa.us, or by dropping off forms at the Elections Office, located at 2915 29th Ave Southwest in Tumwater.
