The Capital boys tennis team fell to Gig Harbor 5-0 in Pierce County Thursday afternoon.

Capital’s No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles matches both went to a third set tiebreaker, but Gig Harbor finished off the Cougars in both contests.

“Although we lost all of the matches, our team is competing well with good teams. I keep reminding our guys that we are a young team and they are improving every match,” Capital head coach Tom Alongi said. “We have some very athletic guys who are developing into good tennis players. It takes time and perseverance. It will eventually pay off. They are eager to improve.”

Capital will host Tumwater Monday, Sept. 28 in the first of four consecutive days of tennis at home for the Cougars.
