The Capital volleyball team snapped a three-game losing streak thanks to a couple of impressive performances from its upperclassmen in a 3-1 win at Lincoln Monday night.

Capital backdoor swept the Abes, as Lincoln took set one 25-20 before the Cougars won the next three 25-18, 25-21, 25-20.

Juniors Eliza Mikkelsen and Clara Sandberg each tallied 13 kills, and Sandberg added three aces. Senior Tess Hawks piled up a staggering 48 assists. Sophomore Claire Anderson returned to the lineup after missing some time to put up seven kills, and junior Taeva Hartman logged 23 digs and seven kills.

“We have a close-knit group of 10 girls on the team, and we were missing Claire last week due to a family vacation. Not having her last week really threw us off as a group, and it was great to have her back,” Capital head coach Maia Nichols said. “If any of the 10 were to miss games, we would be thrown off. After losing both games last week, we were really excited to come into this week with a fresh mindset and new goals.”

Capital (2-3, 1-3 Puget Sound League) will trek back to Tacoma Wednesday night to face Mount Tahoma (0-3, 0-3 Puget Sound League).
