Black Hills shut out by Shelton again

It was déjà vu for the Black Hills baseball team on Tuesday, when the Wolves were shut out by Shelton in a 4-0 loss.

It’s the third time that the Highclimbers have shut out the Wolves, and Shelton outscored Black Hills across the three games by a combined scoreline of 11-0.

Joel Beldo pitched well, allowing just five hits and four runs (three earned) while walking five and striking out six, but Black Hills managed to collect just five hits at the plate themselves.

The Wolves’ best chance at getting on the board came on a single from Asher Strauss in the sixth, but the runner from second was thrown out at the plate trying to score. It was the only time that Black Hills got a runner past second base.

Cooper Parkinson finished 3 for 3 at the plate with a double, while Strauss and Brody Rice collected the Wolves’ other two hits.

Black Hills (3-15, 1-13 2A EvCo) will host Centralia on Thursday in its regular-season finale. The winner of that game will earn the EvCo’s fourth and final postseason spot and book a trip to the district pigtail game on Saturday.
